Where can I buy a fishing ticket?
You can fish in the lake, but must buy a fishing day ticket from Biddulph Town Hall (Monday to Friday – see ‘Biddulph Town Hall Reception’ page for opening times), or from ‘The Hideaway’ Cafe on weekends and bank holidays.
The management of the Visitor Centre was taken over by Biddulph Town Council in August 2020, with plans to refurbish and provide a base for a local business.
The site is managed by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust. Biddulph Town Council is permitted to sell up to 11 tickets for a day – the remaining 11 fishing points are retained by Angling Club members.
How much is a fishing ticket?
Day tickets cost £7 (cash only). They can be bought in advance. Up to 2 rods can be used for each ticket.
Do I need a rod licence?
Yes you do. Getting caught without a licence could land a fine of up to £2,500. You can buy a 1 day, 8 day or 12 month licence online directly from GOV.UK; prices range from £6 to £30, depending on which type you buy, etc.
Children under 13 do not need a licence. Licences for children aged 13-16 are free, but you still need to get a junior licence.
