Biddulph Town Council received a prestigious Silver RoSPA Award in July 2023, demonstrating it’s commitment to health and safety excellence.
Since taking over a number of buildings and services within the town, the Town Council has strived to ensure is has a reputation for providing safe environments, for those who work in or visit these facilities.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Awards is the largest occupational health and safety awards programme in the UK.
The Awards have almost 2,000 entries every year, covering nearly 50 countries and a reach of over seven million employees.
The programme recognises organisations’ commitment to continuous improvement in the prevention of accidents and ill health at work, looking at entrants’ overarching health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.
Sarah Haydon, Chief Officer said: “We are absolutely delighted with this award, which recognises the hard work of the team. A culture of excellent health and safety is embedded within our organisation at all levels. Councillors provide one level of scrutiny, with external and internal individuals providing additional support. We wanted to provide an environment where people would feel safe. The Town Hall is a venue at the centre of our community; we want people to feel reassured when they book with us.”
The Mayor of Biddulph, Councillor Ken Harper said: “As Health and Safety Monitoring Councillor, I play a role in overseeing the day-to-day activities within the Town Hall. Each time I complete my visits, I am amazed at the level of thought and the depth at which health and safety issues are considered. My congratulations go to the team at the Town Council on receiving the recognition that they deserve, ensuring we have high quality services for our community”
