We’re working in partnership with Biddulph Rotary to recognise the efforts of incredible young people in our area.
The Acorn Awards were created in 1989 to recognise outstanding achievements of young people living in the Biddulph area, administered by the Rebecca Harris Trust, in whose name it was established.
Now rebranded as ‘The Biddulph Young Citizen of the Year Awards’, it continues the tradition embodied in the popular Acorn Awards.
Young people don’t always get the recognition they deserve – adverse reports about the behaviour of a small minority all too frequently attract most publicity.
This scheme provides an opportunity to nominate a young person for an award, which can be made for a wide range of achievements; academic, sporting, artistic or in a caring capacity, for unusual perseverance or courage and for service to others.
In short, the kind of achievement which would make any parent, guardian, or friend proud of their nominee and may have a positive influence on their peer group.
The individual awards take the form of a framed certificate, together with a £100 cheque for each of the three successful nominees.
A group award, for a group project or team activity (of four or more people) takes the form of a £200 financial award.
The awards are open to any young person (up to 21 years of age) who has a Biddulph home address or attends a school or youth organisation within the Biddulph area.
Nominations must be in written form, from a responsible adult, teacher, neighbour, youth worker, etc
All nominations should be sent to:
